Taus is pretty nondescript as far as adventurers go, favoring muted grays and blues for his gear (though he is sometimes in disguise). He bears the small facial scars of an experienced duelist, and his face often wears a grimly humorous smirk. He bears no tatoos, save for a black bear’s paw impaled by a sword on his right deltoid.
Taus has always been a rogue. He was born in the depths of Tavick’s Landing, in Sharn; he was abandoned at an early age, but rescued by a goblin soothsayer he only refers to as “Mum”. Mum wasn’t a particularly good soothsayer, so Taus supplemented their income as many do in the depths; petty larceny. He was press ganged into the Breland military during the last war, but his skills as a knife fighter and sapper set him apart. He eventually found his way into an elite commando unit: the Blackpaws. There he met twins Sari and Caelin Vylae, of Valenar.
After the war, Taus went back to his old ways. He picked up work as a footpad for the Boromar clan, under Jurgen Rivnor. Taus was a model employee, save for two faults. His first was due to the war; exposure to people with strong morals had rubbed off on him. The second was pure, dumb luck; often, jobs would be botched due to a patrol stumbling on the scene at the right time, or a tool breaking unexpectedly. Jurgen eventually got fed up and put a hit out on Taus. Taus killed his would-be assassins, and was preparing to flee Sharn, when he was given a job offer by a man the Blackpaws rescued: Bren ir’Gladeden. That job led to the formation of the mercenary company “the Chosen of the Gray Mist”. The rest is history…
